Camping

We decided to spend our last summer weekend camping. We rented a tiny, one-room cabin by a beautiful lake near our house and played there for three days. It was so fun! We took the four-wheelers and the kids explored the trails around the lake. We hiked and swam and cooked over a fire. It was great.

Skyler kept saying that he was so excited to be “roughing it”. He didn’t even want to stay in a cabin, so he brought up his little tent and set it up in front of the cabin as soon as we got there. Then he proceeded to set up his Nintendo DS and the mini movies that he brought to watch on it. Soon he asked if he could come in and warm up his cookies in the microwave. All the while, he was bragging about how he was roughing it.
Shaylin was all about enjoying nature. She spent her time looking for wild flowers, pretty rocks and “interesting trees”. She really does love and appreciate the earth’s natural beauty. She rode her four-wheeler around slowly so as not to miss anything. The highlight of her trip was learning to skip rocks.
Sawyer was in heaven there. He insisted on cooking everything he ate over the fire and then eating it off the stick. He loved throwing rocks in the lake and playing “Pooh sticks” in the streams. Most of all, he loved riding his four-wheeler. That kid is happiest when he is going fast.
Macey loved being outside. Every single time she goes outside now, she spreads her arms out and smiles and says, “Winnnn” (wind). It is so precious. She loves to eat grass and dirt, so she thought camping was great.
