Lake Powell

We went to Lake Powell with my family last week. It was wonderful! The moms made delicious food. The kids had a blast together. The dads played and relaxed. And the dogs pooped and explored. It was great.

Skyler and his cousins love to make "stores" on the beach. They sell rock, sea shells and treasures. This year Skyler found an old, used razor on the beach. He charged so much for it at his store that no one bought it, so he packed it in his suitcase to try and sell again next year. Disgusting! (I threw it away.)
Shaylin had a great time jumping off of the back of the boat all day long. While we there we had an early birthday party for her. Grandma and Grandpa gave her a rock tumbler. (She is obsessed with rocks.) She was so excited about her gift and her party. By the way, she has rocks tumbling right now.
Sawyer had fun playing with his cousin and grandparents, but all he really wanted to do, all day long, was ride the jet skis FAST. We are in trouble with him. He loves speed. He spent all day begging people to take him on the jet skis, but he insisted on driving. And he only drives at TOP speed. He almost killed my poor Mom.
Macey had a ball just sitting on the houseboat watching everyone play around her. We filled up little plastic tubs with water and she liked sitting and splashing in them. She also loved all the yummy food that people kept giving her – popsicles, cookies, cupcakes, punch, you name it. Today when I tried to give her green beans and carrots, she looked at me like I was crazy.

Well, now we are back home. Today I get to unpack, do 500 loads laundry, weed our gigantic garden and try to explain to Sawyer why we don’t own jet skis. Fun.

Big Brother

Shaylin and Sawyer can not stay away from Macey. They are always vying for her attention. Usually Skyler seems pretty disinterested. But every once in awhile, I hear him playing quietly with Macey in another room. Then soon I hear Macey squealing and laughing in delight. She absolutely loves her cute big brother.

Looks of Summer

Only lazy summer days can produce these kinds of faces. I love summer!

Singer

Last week in church Macey was sitting on my lap and during every hymn, she held the open hymnal with two hands and YELLED. I think that she was trying to sing! Sky and Shay thought that it was hilarious. Sawyer did not. He kept telling her that yelling is not singing. She didn’t listen.

Isn't this shirt cute? Man, I love her!

Eyelash Envy

I spend all day looking into these eyes. Is it any wonder that I think my eyelashes are short and stubby?

Home School

We started doing home school last week. I used to do it with my mom during the summers when I was little. It is just for fun, but we love it, (and it sure fills up the long morning hours).

My kids get very into it. They INSIST that we call roll and have show and tell every single day.

They love the science experiments and craft projects that we're doing. We did the Diet Coke and Mentos thing yesterday, and it was very cool. We also ordered a hanging butterfly habitat and a aquasaur tank. They came with live caterpillars and aquasaurs eggs. The kids are fascinated with them.

On Fridays, we go on "field trips". Last week, we went to this Indian museum in town that has a kid's area. This week, we went to a carnival. We are having fun.
